I am fully aware that I am a week too late on the whole "New Years Resolution" train, ESPECIALLY in the blogging world! You're supposed to be like two weeks ahead of every topic, holiday, and event to even stay relevant. Well the stomach flu has no regard for my relevancy...sooooo here I am...trying to put into words my "new years resolution."
I've heard some amazing resolutions this year from people all around me: "Finish what I started," "Be intentional," "Take more risks," etc, and while I've always loved a good original resolution myself, I've decided (a bit shamefully) that this year, I will be jumping on the "NEW YEAR, NEW YOU" bandwagon. Let me explain first before I totally bore you with my lack of originality.
While I've always understood the whole "I'm gonna get healthy this year" statement, I've never seen my health as something worth "resolving." Of course I care about the way I look, but if I'm being honest I've never watched what I ate. I like to pig out on junk food every now and again, eat a cheeseburger at Mcdonald's, have a bowl of cereal before I go to bed...you get the picture. I've been an athlete my entire life up until I became a mom and so I've never really had to watch what I ate. But as a collegiate athlete I was completely burned out on the whole workout thing...it put a bad taste in my mouth about fitness and the idea that you could actually like working out. Plus I had no idea how to self-motivate once there was no one there to push me or tell me "I had to do it."
So up until now...I never realized that healthy living could be a lifestyle, a choice. Being "healthy" doesn't have to mean going on a diet or cutting out all the things I love. It doesn't just revolve around food and fitness either. Health isn't something you do, it's something you learn. It's a mindset, and it starts with having the desire to treat your body the way it deserves to be treated. Yes, I know how cliché that sounds...that's why I titled this post "My New Year, New You Cliché." But in all seriousness, I want to dedicate this year to creating a lifestyle that benefits not only my well-being but makes way for new perspective as well.
You can chalk this up to me asking for a little accountability along the way because heck, I know I'm bound to slip but if I have people all around me, I know I can always jump back on the bandwagon! Right?
I want this year to be revolutionary, life changing, because my life, my health matters. If you want to join me I'd love comment below with your email address and we'll find a way to support one another! Sound like a plan??
I'll be sharing tips and tricks I learn along the way, as well as, my favorite workout gear and meals I love. If you don't already follow me over on Instagram, I like to use that platform for my everyday banter. You can find that right below!
